The Written Representations Procedure

The timetable for the written procedure is designed to make the appeal proceed quickly and fairly. Everyone involved in the appeal should keep to the timetable or the Inspector may not consider their comments.

Appeals that are decided by the written procedure are governed by rules in 'Statutory Instrument 2000 No.1628'. The implementation of these rules is covered in detail by 'Circular 05/2000' from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).

In Wales, some of the rules are different. Please refer to the Planning Inspectorate's booklet Making your planning appeal (Wales)
