Copyright

Certain materials available through the Planning Casework Service - such as maps, plans and drawings - are made available with the authority of the Planning Inspectorate pursuant to section 47 of the Copyright & Patents Act 1988.  Unless that Act provides a relevant exception to copyright, further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.

You are reminded that if you are scanning in material to send to us, this must only be done with the owner's permission, with any licence fee paid. While we cannot enforce this, it is prudent to ensure that the user is aware that scanning in an Ordnance Survey map can only be done if they:

  • have an annual licence to copy (£45 per site) to do so, or
  • have purchased a bulk copy arrangement, or
  • are using an Local Authority-supplied map under the 'map return scheme' (for which a fee is normally payable at the Local Authority's discretion anyway), or
  • have purchased the site-specific map from the Portal for the purposes of attaching to a planning application, appeal or representation.

More information on Ordnance Survey map licensing is available on their website.
