System requirements

Operating System and Browser requirements - PC Users

Operating system: Windows 98 or above (ie Windows ME/NT/2000/XP).  Please note those using the Windows Vista Operating System may encounter problems submitting appeals online.

Internet browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 or above.

Document Viewer: At least Version 6, but we recommend Version 7  (The latest version can be downloaded free from the Adobe site.)

Please also note that:

a) your Internet browser must have JavaScript enabled, which is usually a default setting on your browser, and

b) if you have a pop-up blocker, you should set it to allow pop-ups from the PCS site.

c) ensure that the URL for the Planning Portal is NOT added to your IE proxy server exceptions.

Other computers, operating systems and browsers

Although the Planning Casework Service is designed and tested for use with the above system requirements, you may be able to access the services using other operating system and browser combinations. However we do not guarantee this.  The online service does not work with the Mozilla Firefox operating system or the Apple Mac.  

We are looking at ways in which the service can operate with a wider range of systems, including the Apple Mac.

Internet connection

We recommend the use of a broadband connection, particularly if you intend to access documents or use the map facilities we provide.
