For the appellant a number of changes have been made. These aim to make the whole process easier to understand, take part in and ultimately allow you to receive a decision much more quickly than at present.
We are aiming to reduce the time it takes you to receive a decision substantially by minimising delay during the processing of the appeal. Sending letters to both you (the appellant) and the LPA by post is both costly and time consuming. Therefore, whilst you are welcome to submit your planning appeal and correspond with us in a paper format, given the reduced timescales involved in the Pilot, we strongly encourage the use of email. If an appeal is submitted on paper we shall convert it to an electronic file to enable us to communicate with the LPA electronically. We would therefore be able, and would like, to communicate with you in the same way if possible. As part of the process we will publish all the appeal documents on the Planning Portal (see Data Protection and Privacy for more information).
