This circular provides comprehensive guidance on the making, and submission for confirmation, of compulsory purchase orders to which the Acquisition of Land Act 1981 applies.

Its object is to avoid delay arising from procedural faults or non-compliance with statutory or administrative requirements. General matters covered include speed of handling, documentation, accurate referencing and statements of reasons.

The subjects of 17 appendices range from a checklist of documents to be submitted, through to planning requirements, the order map, listed buildings and conservation areas, and orders planning purposes, and for educational purposes.
