MPG7 The Reclamation of Mineral Workings (November 1996)

This MPG deals with policies, consultations and conditions which are relevant to achieving effective reclamation of mineral workings. It sets out the contribution that reclaimed mineral workings can make to sustainable development and to land use in the wider countryside.

It also advises on the information which should be submitted with planning applications for new mineral developments so that appropriate site reclamation can be achieved. Advice is given on restoration and aftercare schemes and after-use of sites, on management by minerals operators and on monitoring and enforcement by local authorities. Financial provisions for reclamation are also outlined.
