Reports of cross-cutting research are available through the general research area.

The reports available on line for research to underpin this Part of the Regulations' requirements are:

  • Investigation of Ventilation Effectiveness: BD2523 (2009)
The report contains the results of a project that aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the ventilation systems for dwellings described in Approved Document Part F and to propose methods for improving the effectiveness if and where required.

This report presents the findings of a study into the ventilation rate and indoor air quality in eight primary schools across England.

  • Impact of replacement windows on indoor air quality of occupied dwellings
    (2006)

This final report describes the results of a project which aims to assess the impact of windows replacement on the airtightness of dwellings and investigate the effect of installing trickle ventilators in replacement windows.

  • Asthma/Dust Mite Study (2006)
This final report describes the results of two five-month projects which aim to study the links between ventilation and asthma/house dust mites (HDM) and investigate the likelihood of serious problems relating to mould growth in housing with multiple occupancy and low air-leakage rates.
