PPS10 Planning for Sustainable Waste Management

This Planning Policy Statement replaces Planning Policy Guidance Note 10 (Planning and Waste Management) published in 1999 and forms part of the national waste management plan for the UK.

The policies in this PPS should be taken into account by:

  • waste planning authorities in discharging their responsibilities
  • regional planning bodies in the preparation of regional spatial strategies
  • the Mayor of London in relation to the Spatial Development Strategy in London, and
  • local planning authorities in the preparation of local development documents.

 

They may also be material to decisions on individual planning applications.These policies complement other national planning policies and should be read in conjunction with Government policies for sustainable waste management, in particular those set out in the National Waste Strategy 3.
