MPG6 Guidelines for Aggregates Provision in England (April 1994)

MPG 6 has now been cancelled and replaced by  MPS 1 - Planning and Minerals.

This MPG advises mineral planning authorities and the minerals industry on how to ensure that the construction industry receives an adequate and steady supply of aggregates at the best balance of social, environmental and economic cost and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

A summary of consumption information and future demand for aggregates is followed by a review of policy approaches in development plans and the processing of individual planning applications.

Indicative levels of supply from various sources are set out by Region for the period to 2006. Working practices are described and the regional picture elucidated.
