This MPG acknowledges that noise from minerals workings often causes public annoyance. The guidance advises minerals planning authorities and the industry on how a mineral working’s environmental performance can be improved by the control of noise.
It explains how planning controls and good environmental practice can be used to keep noise emissions at or below environmentally acceptable levels. The guidelines recommend use of a model to predict likely noise levels, a method for setting noise limits, methods of monitoring and remedial work, and various noise control practices.
This document has now been superseded by MPS 2.
