The current Regional Spatial Strategy is Regional Planning Guidance 10 (RPG10) published in 2001.

The South West Regional Assembly (SWRA) is the statutory Regional Planning Body responsible for the monitoring and implementation of RSS and keeping regional planning matters under review.
The SWRA has prepared, in partnership with regional stakeholders a revised draft RSS. SWRA has now written to GOSW submitting its Draft Regional Spatial Strategy for the South West 2006 – 2026.
