Ombudsman and Standards Bodies

The Advisory Panel on Standards for the Planning Inspectorate (APOS) - an independent body whose purpose is to advise the Minister for Planning in England and the Minister for the Environment, Planning and Countryside in Wales on the maintenance and enhancement of professional standards in the Planning Inspectorate.

British Standards Institution - the National Standards Body of the UK, with a globally recognized reputation for independence, integrity and innovation in the production of standards that promote best practice.

Directory of Ombudsmen - The British and Irish Ombudsman Association. Ombudsmen investigate complaints of injustice arising from maladministration by local authorities and certain other bodies.

The Standards Board for England - The Standards Board for England works in partnership with those involved in local democracy and the delivery of local public services to ensure that timely and appropriate support is provided and that everybody can have confidence in local democracy.
