Make an appeal online
The Planning Casework Service lets you submit and retrieve appeals for certain types of case online. It currently relates only to cases in England. For appeal forms for cases in Wales, please see the Planning Inspectorate's website.
Please note that not everyone has the right to make an appeal, so you should check our advice carefully.
GUIDANCE - BEFORE YOU START
Please read our guidance on using the system before you start using the online service. |
DOWNLOADING APPEAL FORMS
We are sorry but we are unable to offer you the option of printing a blank form from this site. This is because we use scanning equipment to extract information from the forms and this can be affected by (a) the way that your printer positions information on the paper, and (b) the ability of the scanning software to deal with handwriting. Paper forms can be obtained from the Inspectorate's Customer Services Team on 0117 372 6372. |
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Please remember that there are strict time limits on the right to appeal. Appeals submitted outside these limits will normally be turned away. Where you tell us on the online form that supporting appeal documents will 'Follow', you MUST ensure you submit the documents either by e-mail or post within the deadline (6 months for planning appeals or before the Notice comes into effect for Enforcement appeals). Any missing documents will be requested when the appeal is validated by a member of staff. Once the letter requesting missing documents has been issued, no further reminders will be sent. |
POP-UP BLOCKER
Before you start to use the online forms please ensure your pop-up blocker is set to temporarily allow pop-ups from the Planning Portal. Some of the functions for the online appeal forms maybe lost if pop-ups are blocked. |
LINKS TO APPEAL FORMS |
Select the type of appeal you want to submit using the links below. Not all appeals can be submitted online. Check the 'Other appeal types' link below, if the one you want is not there - eg Tree Preservation Orders, Advertisements. Please do NOT use these forms for cases in Wales. |
Submitting Plans |
If you intend to attach plans to the forms, or send them in separately by e-mail, please ensure you indicate the paper size that the plan should be printed on. This can be done by adding the paper size to the file name used to identify the plan i.e. proposedplan@A4. This will help us to ensure plans are printed to the correct scale. |
Documents that you send with the appeal form should be in one of our acceptable file formats - see Electronic submissions - and must be less than 5MB in size.
