Grid Reference Finder

Introduction

Our appeal forms ask for the Grid Reference of the appeal site.  Where this is a postal address, and you use our Address Finder (NB Pop-ups need to be enabled for this facility to work properly), the Grid Reference will be completed automatically.

However, if you do not or cannot use the Address Finder, and you do not know the grid reference (your local authority may be able to help), we have provided a Grid Reference Finder to assist you.

To use the Grid Reference Finder

1. Click on the 'Grid Reference Finder' button.

2. A new window will be displayed showing the outline of England and Wales.  The 'Zoom In' tool on the left will be highlighted.

3. Click on the relevant part of the map.

4. The display will change to a more detailed view.

5. Repeat until the site is displayed - you should be able to see individual properties on the map when you are at the right level of detail.  This may take between 8 and 10 'zooms' depending on where the site is. 

If necessary, you can click on the 'Move Map' tool on the left, and drag and drop the map to alter the area displayed.  You can also click on the 'Zoom Out' tool to get back to the previous level of detail.

6. Once the site is displayed, click on the 'Select Point' tool on the left, and click on the site.  This will complete the Grid Reference fields.
