Consolidated versions of the Building Regulations 2000 and the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2000

*
Please note that the consolidated version which follows does not include any amendments made to the [the Building Regulations 2000 and the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2000] made by the Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007, or the Building and Approved Inspectors (Amendment) Regulations 2007 (SI 2007/3384).

1. The following two links are to informal consolidated versions of the Building Regulations 2000 and the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2000 respectively. In light of the number of amendments to both sets of Regulations, it is considered that putting these documents on the website would assist users of the Regulations.

Building Regulations 2000 (consolidated) (PDF 279 kb)

The Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2000 (consolidated) (PDF 178 kb)

2. The text of the documents represents only those provisions which were in force when the documents were put onto the website on 13 April 2007.

*
Therefore the text does not include provisions which have been repealed or provisions not yet commenced at that date. Provisions dealing with transitional cases also do not appear here.

Information on transitional provisions, which usually apply to work commenced before amendments are made to the Regulations, may be found in the circulars which provide guidance on each set of amendments to the Regulations.

3. The text of the documents is intended to reflect the text of the Regulations as at 13 April 2007. This means that material which appears to be misprinted or mispunctuated may be an exact and deliberate reproduction of material published by authority.

*
However, while we have tried to be accurate, these documents are not authoritative and are not a substitute for the unconsolidated statutory instruments published by The Stationery Office Limited, from which these consolidations are compiled.
