Customer-facing mapping accreditation scheme

To ensure the maintenance of technical standards the Portal operates an accreditation process with suppliers who would like to supply the Planning Portal with a standalone, customer-facing mapping service.

Any supplier who wishes to provide this service must be accredited. Any supplier who meets the required standards as outlined below and can sign up to the contract and commercial terms can then provide the Planning Portal with a standalone, customer-facing mapping service.

Benefits of accreditation to suppliers

Planning Portal mapping accreditation scheme enables suppliers to access a broader marketplace of users.

Benefits of accreditation for users

  • The Planning Portal remains an authoritative source of information by publishing content and supplying services in a consistent way.
  • Suppliers agree to meet the specified standard for the electronic provision and purchasing of mapping.
  • The Planning Portal will publish an up-to-date list of accredited suppliers which customers can search when selecting potential suppliers from which to purchase maps.

The accreditation process

To become an accredited supplier you need to successfully complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the accreditation checklist and send back to mappingaccreditation@planningportal.gov.uk
  2. If specified standards are met, meet the Planning Portal Director
  3. Sign up to the contract and commercial terms

There is no fee to become accredited.

Submit your own version of the checklist by email to:

mappingaccreditation@planningportal.gov.uk

(please also attach details of your name, company’s name and your contact details).

The Planning Portal will monitor accredited suppliers’ compliance with the criteria and standards.

The Planning Portal reserves the right to amend the criteria and standards. Amendments to the criteria will be notified to all accredited suppliers providing the standalone mapping service.

Compliance with the criteria is an ongoing obligation and failure to maintain standards will result in the removal of accreditation status.
