Part L - Conservation of fuel and power

Overview

The legal framework and Approved Documents for Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) were last revised by amendments that came into effect on 6 April 2006.  The changes brought into effect:

• New energy performance requirements
• Amendments of Regulations:
  - the Building Regulations 2000
  - the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2000

Since the 2006 Approved Documents for Part L were published on 15 March 2006, DCLG (formerly ODPM) has become aware of inaccuracies in those for each of L1A, L1B, L2A and L2B.  These inaccuracies have now been amended and the definitive version was placed on the website on 31 March. If you downloaded the Approved Documents for L1A, L1B, L2A and L2B between 15 and 31 March, you are encouraged to download the definitive version and refer to marked up versions to view the specific corrections made.
