Zurich Insurance Building Guarantees

Zurich Standard '10' provides ten year warranty cover for newly built
homes and conversions for sale or rent in the private and social housing sector. Cover is also available for mixed residential and commercial projects.

It provides key protection for buyers for deposits at contract exchange and, depending when a claim is reported, against damage and major damage resulting from defects in construction arising from a failure to meet Zurich's published technical requirements and breaches of certain building regulations that endanger health and safety. 

It is essential for those requiring a mortgage or with the intention of selling on in the future. For the first two years for new build, one year for conversions, the developer is responsible for putting right damage covered by the policy - should the developer fail to act, Zurich will advise in cases of dispute and step in to carry out repairs if necessary.  Zurich Standard '10' also provides an option for a manufacturers warranty on the same basis where modular or system build construction is used.  In all cases the remainder of the ten year period is insured directly by Zurich.
