Appeals - Do it online

If you need help please see the Guidance on the appeal process section.

* Impact of adverse weather conditions

The severe weather in the first half of January may have prevented appellants, appellants' agent, local planning authorities and third parties from meeting specified deadlines for representations.  During the affected period requests for extensions of time were being considered on their merits, and extensions were being granted as appropriate.  As the weather has now improved, all parties will be expected to meet the deadlines for the case.

Requests for extensions of time due to exceptional circumstances should always be made by telephone or email to the relevant Case Officer (name and contact details can be found on the Inspectorate's 'initial letter').  An appropriate extension may be agreed if it accepted that there is a valid reason for not meeting the deadline.

IMPORTANT: Prior to submitting a Planning appeal where you are asking for the procedure to be a Hearing or Inquiry, you should agree with the LPA two suitable dates on which the hearing or inquiry could take place.  These dates need to be entered on the appeal form.  You should bear in mind that the dates will need to be within 10 – 20 weeks of the Start date.  As a general rule you should allow 1 week from submitting the appeal for the Start date to be set.
