New permitted development rules introduced by the Government on October 1 mean many homeowners will no longer need to apply for planning permission to extend their homes.

The changes reduce the need for people to apply for planning permission for straightforward home improvements such as loft conversions or extensions (this does not affect the need for building regulations approval).

If you are thinking about extending, converting or improving your own home consult one of the Planning Portal's experts at the Homebuilding and Renovating show, stand 265 - Harrogate International Centre, 7th - 9th November 2008.

Find out about the new planning rules and how they will affect your building project.  Bring your plans, outline drawings or just your ideas and speak to local authority building control and planning experts from the Planning Portal.  Free 20-minute sessions worth £150 are available.
