A Portal Useful Tool is a third-party service or tool, provided by either public or private sector organisations and hosted on the Planning Portal. A Useful Tool is an opportunity for third parties to work with the Government to deliver tools that improve the planning and building control process.
Portal users can use Portal Useful Tools to access expanded content without needing to leave the Planning Portal. Each Portal Useful Tool is available on the Useful Tools homepage as well as its own dedicated 'profile' page (see example on the right), allowing users to find more information and directly access the tool.
The Portal is opening the doors to the market and its customers to suggest development ideas. Each idea will be evaluated to make sure the content is relevant to Planning Portal users.
Portal Useful Tools must be of high-quality, complementary to Portal content and help contribute towards a more efficient and simpler planning system.
