Planning Queries

The Planning Portal contains a wide range of planning information and also provides answers to general questions relating to planning via it's FAQ section.

If you cannot find the answer to your query on the Planning Portal or our FAQ section, please contact one of the following parties, depending on the nature of your query.

Planning Permission/Applications

If you have a planning query related to a specific location/area or your enquiry is related to a specific planning application you should contact the local planning authority (LPA) responsible.

LPA contact details can be found in our Local Information section. You can also identify the LPA responsible for the area in question there.

The Planning Portal's general advice is to contact your LPA and discuss your proposals before starting the project.

Appeals

Appeals are handled by The Planning Inspectorate. If your enquiry is related to an appeal under consideration, please contact the relevant Case Officer whose contact details will be on letters from them. If you have a general enquiry, or do not have contact details for the Case Officer, please contact the Planning Inspectorate Customer Services Team on 0117 372 6372 or by email enquiries@planning-inspectorate.gsi.gov.uk.

The Planning Inspectorate's 'Planning Casework Service' provides an online service for appeals. If you have any enquiries relating to the online appeals service, please call 0117 372 6372 or email them at pcs@pins.gsi.gov.uk.

Please note that calls may be monitored for quality and training purposes.

Guidance

If you believe any of the information on the Planning Portal to be incorrect, misleading or unclear, please email feedback@planningportal.gsi.gov.uk.

If your enquiry is related to planning or building regulations publications (such as guidance, statistics or policy) please contact Communities and Local Government who are responsible for these publications.
