Creating an application

  1. This section allows you to name your application, specify the location of the application and help us determine what kind of application form you need to fill out.
  2. When creating a new application, you need to give it a name you can remember, so when you come back at a later date you will be able to find it in your ‘my application’ page. Once you have entered a name click the next button to proceed.
  3. You need to tell us your application’s location. This is so we know which local planning authority to send the application to to. If your application is for an existing building, you can enter the buildings postcode. If the development does not yet have an address you can put in its grid reference or by search with the map. You can get to these by clicking on the tabs above box.
  4. The next steps will ask you to confirm your address, then your local planning authority. To accept this information, click ‘next’ to proceed. If either of these are wrong you can click ‘cancel’ to start the process again. If you want to go back a single step use your browsers ‘back’ button.
  5. The last step is to find out the forms you need to fill out. If you are not sure, its best to talk to your local planning authority. Otherwise we can take you through a series of multiple-choice questions to find out what you need.
  6. If you do know, select ‘yes’ and the next screen will provide you with a drop down list of forms to select. The second drop down menu is to determine any other permission that may be required.
  7. Click on ‘continue with your application’ and you will be able to get started. It will also be saved to the ‘My applications’ section for you.
  8. If you are a general public user and want to get to your ‘my applications’ page, you can click on ‘my applications’ in the ‘planning’ section of the main menu on the left of the screen.
  9. If you are a professional user then you can find it by clicking on ‘Applications’ then ‘My applications’ in the left hand navigation.
  10. If you need any additional help look out for the blue help icons through out the site. Alternatively you can download the guidance notes from the application overview page.
