Around 5% of the planning and enforcement casework the Planning Inspectorate deals with is conducted through inquiries. We also hold inquiries into a range of other casework such as Called-in planning applications and Compulsory Purchase Orders. This section provides guidance on how we conduct inquiries and lists the forthcoming ones.
Bespoke programmes apply to a limited number of inquiry cases. Timescales for the main steps up to and including the inquiry are agreed by all main parties.
