You can search for cases in an area (rectangle) that you specify by putting in the grid references of the diagonally opposite corners of the rectangle. You can identify those references using the advice provided at (a) above.
If you use the dreamhosters facility and right click on two points, representing the bottom left and top right of the required rectangle, the coordinates of both points will be shown in the table below the map, and they can then be entered onto the appeals Search criteria page.
Remember that 7 digits are needed for both Eastings and Northings.
