Energy Saving

Almost half of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions come from energy we use every day – much of it at home. By making more efficient use of energy and reducing waste we can all help prevent climate change - and save money on bills.

Grants may also be available to offset against the cost of energy efficiency measures.

Check the energy efficiency of your home with the Energy Saving Trust or complete their Home Energy Check to see how you could save money.

Glazing

Installing double glazing can cut heat loss through windows by half. If you can't afford to replace all the windows, why not choose the rooms that cost you the most to heat?

Loft Insulation

Without loft insulation you could be losing as much as a third of your heating costs through your roof. Insulating your loft is a simple and effective way to reduce your heating bills and you can even do it yourself.

Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity wall insulation will significantly reduce the amount of energy you need to heat your home. The average house could reduce heating costs by over a third.

Solid Wall Insulation

Solid walls lose even more heat than cavity walls; the only way to reduce this heat loss is to insulate them on the inside or the outside.

Floor Insulation

Timber floors can be insulated by lifting the floorboards and laying mineral wool insulation supported by netting between the joists.

Heating and Hot Water

Using a high efficiency condensing boiler with heating controls could save you between £190 and £240 a year. It will also significantly cut your home's CO2 emissions as boilers account for around 60 per cent of all domestic CO2 emissions.
