Circular 29/92: Indicative forestry strategies

DoE 29/92 and WO 62/92 (15 Dec 1992)

This circular provides guidance to county councils, metropolitan districts, outer London boroughs and national park authorities who may be considering the preparation of indicative strategies for the creation of new woodlands and forests. It also explains the relationship of Indicative Forest Strategies to development plans.

The standard form and content of Indicative Forest Strategies is covered in appendices. Government policy for forestry is set out in a further appendix. Schemes for woodland grants and a farm woodland premium are mentioned and treatment of existing woodlands is discussed.

Forestry strategy objectives and functions, and the means of devising them, are explained.
