DoE 28/83 and WO 23/83 (29 December 1983)
This circular draws attention to a new code of practice on the publication of information by local authorities about the handling of planning applications.
The aims are to give wider publicity to the time taken to process planning applications and to help elected members to makes their management arrangements so as to avoid unnecessary delay.
The code of practice aims to provide a consistent basis for the regular local publication of information about handling times and to stimulate the monitoring of performance in deciding planning applications, in action to improve performance, and in identification of causes of delay.
