The purpose of this guide is to assist LPAs in implementing Planning Policy Statement 5 (Planning for the Historic Environment) and to help in the interpretation of policies within the PPS. As a guide to interpreting how policy should be applied, this practice guidance may also be material to individual planning and heritage consent decisions.
