This document has been developed to provide guidance to local authorities which are affected by the changes made to the planning regime for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs).
In particular, it explains the role of local authorities in the new regime, setting out guidelines for consulting with promoters on Statements of Community Consultation (where a proposed development will fall within the local authority area) and reporting to the Infrastructure Planning Commission on pre-application consultation.
