This guidance - published on 16 March 2010 - forms part of the Government's response to recommendations made in the Killian Pretty Review. It accompanies Government policy on information requirements for planning applications, including design and access statements and the validation process.
It replaces the Validation of Planning Applications: Guidance for local planning authorities published on 7 December 2007.
Among the reforms are changes in relation to design and access statements. These measures are intended to streamline the manner in which applicants discuss the issue of ‘context’ in their submissions and expand the range of development that is exempt from the requirement to provide a design and access statement.
This guidance accompanies the Development Management policy annex on information requirements for planning applications
