Marine Minerals Guidance 2: The control of marine minerals dredging from British seabeds
The British seabed lies beneath British waters which are defined in the Regulations as all the waters around England and within specified outer marine areas around Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This guidance sets out the procedures that the Secretary of State will follow when considering and deciding any marine minerals dredging matters that come to him for decision within these waters under the Regulations.
Overall policy for marine minerals dredging in English waters is set out in MMG 1. It should be read in conjunction with MMG 2 as it explains in detail how such extraction should be undertaken so that it is consistent with the principles of sustainable development.
