If you seek permission to carry out works to your property and your application isn't decided within a set period, or you get a decision from your local council that you disagree with, you have a right to appeal.

You can also appeal if the local planning authority has served you with an Enforcement Notice.

Appeals are made to the First Secretary of State in England or, for applications relating to land or property in Wales, to the National Assembly for Wales. All appeals are administered by the Planning Inspectorate.

Please remember that there are strict time limits on the right to appeal. Appeals submitted outside these limits will normally be turned away.

We have now introduced an enhancement of our planning casework system allowing all users on-line access in both the English and Welsh languages. Please note that this system is under continuous development and we are aware that some text and messages in the Welsh language system require translation.  This is currently being rectified along with minor typographical errors and the system will be updated in the near future. Since both English and Welsh language versions function correctly we have decided, to improve accessibility to the appeals system at the earliest opportunity, to proceed with the on-line facility whilst the amendments are being carried out.
