TAN 6 - Agricultural and Rural Development - June 2000

This TAN advises on the agricultural considerations a local planning authority should take into account when preparing development plans and considering planning applications.

These include agricultural land quality, location of development in relation to farms, farm sizes and the condition of farm buildings. Re-use of rural buildings is considered against a number of criteria and development related to farm diversification is given special attention.

Agriculture and forestry development, and more particularly dwellings intended for workers in those industries, are discussed. A final section examines issues in development involving horses.
