If you seek permission to carry out works to your property and your application isn't decided within a set period, or you get a decision from your local council that you disagree with, you have a right to appeal.

You can also appeal if the local planning authority has served you with an Enforcement Notice.

Appeals are made to the First Secretary of State in England or, for applications relating to land or property in Wales, to the National Assembly for Wales. All appeals are administered by the Planning Inspectorate.

Please remember that there are strict time limits on the right to appeal. Appeals submitted outside these limits will normally be turned away.
