The Future of Building Control Consultation: Summary of Responses

On the 27 October 2008 Communities and Local Government published The Future of Building Control Consultation:Summary of Responses document which details the analysis of the responses received to The Future of Building Control:Consultation paper which was published in March 2008.

A total of 396 responses were received, 22 per cent of which were returned online.

The largest number of responses were from local authority building control departments, making up 57 per cent of all the responses, with construction industry professionals (architects, surveyors, engineers, etc) forming the second largest group.

There was strong endorsement for the majority of the 28 proposals which were designed to raise compliance with the building regulations while reducing the burden and cost on industry.

We intend to follow up the analysis of consultation responses with an Implementation Plan, outlining how the successful proposals will the taken forward.
